The “Lost Then Found” exhibition will be open for 10 days from May 2 to May 12, 2013 in New York at 345meatpacking.

This limited run exhibition will feature never-before-seen portraits of Andy Warhol. The portraits were taken by celebrated photographer, Steve Wood, and collected dust in Wood’s large filing cabinet unseen for over 30 years. In 2012, Wood’s friend and fellow photographer, David Munns, stumbled across the lost images and urged Wood to share the images with the public. Hence, “Lost Then Found” was created to bring the rare portraits of Andy Warhol to light.

A design collaboration amongst University of Derby student reproduce the CMYK halftone printing effect by hand! By layering of dotted color in a pattern to create full-color imagery, the students mimicked the work of an actual digital printer, but with a human element and unique artistry (making each image a one-of-a-kind piece.)

CMYK refers to the four inks used in some color printing: cyan, magenta, yellow, and key (black)—the application of which is usually determined by computers, not people. The process of applying each dot by hand as you can imagine is a painfully tedious process that requires not only a knowledge of printing but also plenty of forethought before beginning each piece.

Throughout the printing process the human printer assumes the role of the machine and is therefore controlled and restricted by the process of using CMYK halftones created on the computer. The Human Printer was setup in 2009 by Louise Naunton Morgan and having setup a design studio with Stina Gromark, the project is now run by Stinsensqueeze (STSQ). (via jeannie jeannie)
